Original Toronto Star caption: Wearing gas masks, members of St. Andrew's college cadet corps marched through clouds of make-believe poison gas as part of their annual inspection. On the sidelines, almost hidden in the smoke screen spread over the field, teachers, parents and students watched as the corps marched through the ''gas'' like seasoned veterans. While Lt.-Col. K.M. Holloway of M.D. No. 2, and Lt.-Col. G. M. Malone, of the 48th Highlanders, observed them, the boys quickly responded to an order to don masks (UPPER PICTURE). Then with heads up, rifles shouldered and their breath wheezing through the masks, the ''ghostly army'' of officers-to-be (LOWER), marched through the smoke screen.
