Original Toronto Star caption: Hitting the trail with huskies. Dog-sledding has snowmobiling beat by a country mile, according to Bess Paterson, who's driving a team of five Siberian huskies in a snow-covered field near her home, north of Bowmanville, yesterday. She and her husband, Bill, run Gnome Kennels, which has a dozen huskies and Samoyeds on hand. DOg-sledding is their hobby, but they no longer can use the forestry area because of noisy snowmobiles. However, time trials for teams of three, vie, and seven Siberian huskies will start this weekend at the Cold Creek Conservation Area.
