Original Toronto Star caption: Near miss: This one missed but six other New York Islanders shots beat Maple Leaf goaltender Mike Palmateer last night. On this play Palmateer got some help from teammate Greg Hothan, who dumped Isles' Bob Nystrom (23) while Garry Howatt pestered Palmy. Overall, Leafs outshot the Islanders, 35-25, but Paul Gardiner, late in the third period, was the only Toronto player to beat Chico Resch.
