Original Toronto Star caption: The original script for next year's CBC Canada Day TV special called for Toronto's popular singer or songwriter Murray McLauchlan to roll along Bay St. in a limousine. But the film crew so disrupted traffic yesterday that police directed them around the corner to king St. They had no sooner set up there, when - just like in the movies - the Metro Works boys arrived to work on the very manhole whete the limo was parked. A quick-thinking photographer saved another shuffle by suggesting the film crew send McLauchlan down the manhole. Above, the affable singer, in stylish hat and leather jacket, peers into the hole before taking a guided tour of Toronto's underground world (below).
