Original Toronto Star caption: Joe Noble has been a golf professional for 45 of his 61 years, the last 25 at Thornhill Country Club. While he admits he has thought about retirement, he has recently embarked on a new five-year contract. Noble has taken great interest in keeping pace with change and recently began recording tapes of personalized instruction for members. He doesn't claim to be first to do this, but hasn't heard about any others. Members will honor him at dinner next Friday.

Mr. Justice Bora Laskin, at 61 one of the youngest and most junior members of the Supreme Court, is the new Chief Justice of Canada. The first Jewish member of the Supreme Court, Laskin has been a justice for less than four years. He succeeds Chief Justice Gerald Fauteux, 73, who resigned on Dec. 23.
