Freedman, chief of hematology at the Hospital for Sick Children, said of hematologist Dr. Nancy Olivieri's research. Olivieri, who used the highly experimental drug on Anita Aimola, 22, on compassionate grounds, said, 'This drug shows enormous promise towards an entire new way to treat these diseases.
