Original Toronto Star caption: There was little to cheer about in the Expos' clubhouse after yesterday's 2-0 defeat to the Philadelphia Phillies eliminated Montreal's National League playoff hopes. Tony Perez was left with a can of beer and his thoughts, which couldn't have been all glum as the Expos wrapped up their best season ever and battled Pittsburgh Pirates down to the wire. The fans at Olympic Stadium still loved their heros and let them know with banners and a standing ovation.
