Original Toronto Star caption: The new City of Etobicoke, run from municipal offices on Burnhamthorpe Rd. often referred to as the Taj Mahal, would include the present Etociboke, Long Branch, New Toronto and Mimico. Its population would be about 240,000, smallest of the four new cities, with almost 14 per cent of the population. Its council would have 16 members, compared with 30 council members now governing the municipalities in the area. The new council would have a mayor, 12 aldermen would be elected from each of six wards. Each metro councillor would represent two abutting wards. The present Etobicoke township has a reeve and 10 council members. Long Branch has a reeve and four council members. Mimico and New Toronto each have a mayor and six council members.
