Original Toronto Star caption: Getting the needle. Toronto Mayor John Sewell rolled up his sleeve, gritted his teeth and took his medicine yesterday from Dr. Gillian Peterson (right). City public health staff set up a clinic in City Hall and gave polio and tetanus shots to 11 members of City Council, including Sewell. The politicians were asked to set an example for city residents, many of whom have not had recent vaccinations. Public health officials recommend vaccinations every five years. After getting the point, Sewell clutched his chest in mock relief, and told a nurse, who had been giving him instructions, you sound just like my mother.
