Original Toronto Star caption: Getting the needle. Toronto Mayor John Sewell rolled up his sleeve, gritted his teeth and took his medicine yesterday from Dr. Gillian Peterson (right). City public health staff set up a clinic in City Hall and gave polio and tetanus shots to 11 members of City Council, including Sewell. The politicians were asked to set an example for city residents, many of whom have not had recent vaccinations. Public health officials recommend vaccinations every five years. After getting the point, Sewell clutched his chest in mock relief, and told a nurse, who had been giving him instructions, 'you sound just like my mother.'

Like father, like son, like father . . . Generations of doctors to graduate from the University of Toronto in medicine, from left, Dr. J. E. Cooper Cole, his son, Dr. John Dyce Cooper Cole, and his father, Dr. C. E. Cooper Cole, attended graduation ceremonies yesterday for the Faculty of Medicine. The elder Coles were at the ceremonies, held in Convocation Hall, to see John receive his honors degree. Diplomas and degrees were awarded.
