The way to be happy, or, The history of the family at Smiledale : to which is added, The story of little George. A printed paper label on the upper wrapper reads: Lumsden & Son's edition of the Smiledale family. First published ca. 1797 by E. Newbery. This edition includes four additional stories. Frederick buys a lottery ticket and wins ?10,000 which he then shares with his family. Illustrations are reverse copies of the cuts attributed to John Bewick in the original Newbery edition.
