Emmauel Bourdos, whose take-home pay as a hospital orderly is about $110 a week, helps the two eldest of his six children with their homework as the family gathers around the table. John R. who is the newly appointed deputy of teh Consul-General of the United States in Toronto, his wife Gisela and their nine children took over four apartments with six bedrooms, three kitchens, 10 closets and one full time maid. He wants money: Dr. Mario Piacenza of the southern Italian town of Altomonte is in Toronto lookin for funds to build a school for peasant children. He's hoping to get it from the parents of the children he's leading here - natives of Alomonte who left their home town for North America. So far, he's visited 7 cities on a 3-month North American tour but has raised only $2,000 of the $20,000 he needs. He's had a picnic with Altomonteans here and plans another one.

We believe that everything we do must be governed by religious principles, says Joseph Benedetto, left, who sends all his children to the St. Boniface Separate School. From left are Michael, 11, Suzanne, 4 (seated), Anthony, 7, Karen, 16, Mrs. Benedetto, and Jo-Anne, 13, in front. Their street is affectionately called Catholic Court because, with nine neighboring houses, it sends 42 children to St. Boniface school.

Loading children into the back of his station wagon for a trip home from nursery school, bus operator John Davis says he is breaking the law but he must do it to make a living and I have learned how to carry children in the safest possible way. Police vigilance has been increased since a recent accident that involved a school bus in which 11 child passengers were shaken up.
