Mulholland House and Mrs. Thomas Mulholland

Lot 7, Con. 2 West. Bathurst St. Thomas Mulholland house, built in 1826. This house was situated 600 feet west of Bathurst St., 800 feet north-west of Ashbury West United Church. It was demolished in 1950. Mrs. Thomas Mulholland (Mary Ann Conland) standing by house. The house was 44 feet by 36 feet, constructed of bricks made by hand on this farm and dried in the sun. The walls were 14 inches thick (3 bricks). The shingles were hand made on the farm and were pine. Eavestroughs were cut out of one pine log 46 feet long, lined with copper and were as good as new when the house was demolished. There was a fireplace in every room and a bake oven in the basement. The farm consisted of 400 acres. Another house was attached to the back of this home and served as quarters for the servants and farm help. Thomas Mulholland had 12 children.
