Original Toronto Star caption: Firehoses battle vainly against the blaze sweeping the Tam O Shanter Golf, Curling and Skating Club in Scarborough yesterday. About 200 children taking figure skating lessons fled the building, just before flames engulfed it leaving damage estimated at $2,000,000 in their wake. No one was injured. The curling season had officially opened hours before the fire broke out in the play-as-you-curl arena.
