Original Toronto Star caption: Frustration at the roadblocks: It was pathos and desperation; and a few laughs; as hundreds of Mississauga drivers lined up at the barricades last night to make their pitches for a visit to the off-limit areas. One man even offered to leave his wife as a hostage if police would let him by to feed his 50 racing pigeons. It didn't work. Police did escort those in genuine need.
