Original Toronto Star caption: Near miss: It is only by the grace of God that precious human lives were not lost in the Medonte Township derailment (above]; reader says. Present safety regulations for trains carrying hazardous cargo are obviously not strict enough; but the admittedly high cost of making them stricter must be weighed against the magnitude of the disasters we have narrowly missed.
