Original Toronto Star caption: Reaper from 1830 is restored. Antique restorer and amateur historian Alan Steoch of Mississauga has been building this replica of an 1831 McCormick Reaper; the forerunner of the modern-day grain combine; for a U.S. advertising agency. The agency bought the machine from a Chatham area farmer and intends to donate it to a museum in Northern Ireland. Steoch says it's valued at about $10;000. Before reaper was introduced; grain was cut by hand.
