Original Toronto Star caption: New reactors at pickering are going up. The $1.25 billion addition to the nuclear generating station at Pickering is coming along: The first reactor building (above) is expected to go into production in 1980 and the other three by 1982. The addition is virtually a duplication of the original station, in terms of size and capacity, but the original, which started production in 1971, cost only $760 million. Its design, for heavy-water generating, is recorgnized around the world for production dependability and few shutdown.
