Original Toronto Star caption: Employees of the Ontario department of lands and forests look over a new-type parachute being used to drop emergency supplies to persons stranded in inaccessible places. The chute is made of special paper-called para-crepe-saving war vital silk and nylon. Weighing 21 ounces the chute can carry between 25 and 50 pounds and can be repacked and used again. It opens automatically in one to three seconds after leaving the plane.
