Fishing huts still dot the thick ice of Lake Simcoe near Pefferlaw; but Stanley Black of Manilla; near Sunderland; prefers to fish in the open as he has all winter. He doesn't feel the cold when the fish are biting - one bitter day last month he caught 99 perch - but as he ate a cold lunch he'd had not a single nibble.
