Original Toronto Star caption: Professional kite flyer Ken Lewis of Port Credit experiments with the new Para-foil; a kite sometimes called the Flying Mattress. Big kite uses the ram jet principle; channelling the air through flutes; compressing it and then allowing it to escape as a jet stream. Lewis is one of only two Canadians experimenting with and constructing big kite. They have been used in air-pollution experiments at University of Waterloo; others are used in meteorology.
