Original Toronto Star caption: Living doll: A fascinated crowd gathered in front of the Ashley China Shop on Bloor St. W. yesterday to see these flesh-and-blood representations of porcelain statuettes. Two skilled models had a number of spectators wondering whether they were alive or not. Working in 15-minute shifts; the models portrayed Southern Belle and The Last Waltz.
