Original Toronto Star caption: The little engine that could; Douglas Schlenker (right; a 27-year-old tool-and-die make from Port Elgin; wanted a quarter-size model of an 1880 steam engine - but he found he'd have to buy it in the United States for $40;000. So his firm; headed by his father; Helmuth Schlenker (left); built one and has it on display in the Queen Elizabeth Building in a metalworking exhibition that ends today. The oil-fired locomotive has pulled 6;000 passengers; most of them children; in its four cars on a half-mile track in Port Elgin. The company plans to build more and sell them.
