Original Toronto Star caption: Rule of St. Benedict: Prayer; hard work and economic self-sufficiency are required of a small band of Cistercian monks following their calling at their monastery at Georgetown. Known as Trappists because of their special observance of vegetarianism and silence (through the rule of silence is modified today); they are the first contemplative monks to establish themselves in Ontario; having come form the parent monastery of the order at Oka; near Montreal; in 1977.
