Select fables of Esop and other fabulists : in three books. ''A new life of Esop'', by an anonymous writer first appeared in the edition of 1765 replacing the one translated from the French of M. de Meziriac. An essay on fable'', is attributed to Dodsley while the morals, which appear in the index ([24] p. at end), were compiled by William Shenstone. First printed by John Baskerville for R. and J. Dodsley in 1761. The text illustrations are drawn and engraved on wood by T. Gilbert, the first one bearing the date 1777.
