Original Toronto Star caption: At Brampton; the flowers come marching in; As spectators line the street; majorettes escort the flower-decked floats in 9th annual Brampton Flower Festival on Saturday. The largest parade the festival has ever mustered; there were 48 floats; 13 crops of majorettes and 22 bands. An estimated 35;000 turned out to watch as the parade moved through town. The Brampton Lions Club won the award for the best float; which carried 19-year-old Flower Queen Margaret Doucette. The parade route was a mile-and-a-half long.
