Original Toronto Star caption: Trio of musical pussycats revolve around and around to their own music; and to the delight of 600;000 spectators who lined the six-mile route of today's 66th annual Santa Claus parade. The cats were on one of the 30 brilliantly-colored floats making up the cavalcade along with 15 bands. The mile-long parade; which began at 8:30 a.m. at Dupont St. and Dovercourt Rd.; ended at 10 a.m. at Eaton's downtown store. Newcomers to this year's parade included characters of Dr. Seuss' popular children's books; including Cat in the Hat and others.
