The location of the hotel, perhaps on the outskirts of Toronto, is unknown. However, page 82 of the 1899 Toronto City Directory lists George Gillespie as the proprietor of the Russel House hotel, "Main cor. Humber". The listing appears in the "Suburbs, Weston" section of the directory.
