"See the original manuscript in the Vatican at Rome, and the cuts by Michael Angelo; illustrated with the comments of our great modern critics."--t.p. Bound in Dutch flowery boards. First and last pages are pasted onto boards. Mrs. Margery is accused of being a witch. Running title: The history of Goody Two-Shoes; The history of Mrs. Margery Two-Shoes. The frontispiece and text illustrations are engraved on wood; they illustrate the same incidents as in earlier editions, but have been redrawn. The text follows the John Newbery edition but has been reset without the dedication leaf. Variously ascribed to Oliver Goldsmith, Giles Jones, Griffith Jones and John Newbery.
