This book collects two stories.

Elissa, the Doom of Zimbabwe is set in the ancient city of Great Zimbabwe, shortly after the reign of King Solomon. Solomon's grandson falls in love with a princess of the city. Because they are of different religions, their union is forbidden.

Black Heart and White Heart is set in South Africa in 1878, during the Zulu wars. A duplicitous white man who attempts to steal the heart of the beloved of a Zulu prince.
