Bright red cloth covers, with upper cover divided into two panels of equal size with an intricate floral and leaf design radiating out from a star and its rays contained by a floral shape in the centre of each panel; a narrow strip on the left-hand side portrays ten rolled-up scrolls with a tree-form in each centre repeated in both rolled-up and unrolled format on the spine; the design on both upper cover and spine has been stamped in black on the red background; the unrolled scrolls on the spine are lettered in black with the names of the edition and publisher; a band of gilt near the top of the spine is reverse lettered with the title and author's name.
