Harbour
On waterfront: Containerized ocean shipments have favored St. Lawrence; Atlantic ports over Toronto but Ontario's deputy transport minister Harold Gilbert expects a resurgence in traffic.
9/12/1981
Anchor aground: An old anchor looms in the foreground and mist rises off the water as Toronto harbor gets an early foretaste of the quiet days of winter. The harbor was busier this year than last; but things slow down to a crawl when winter really takes hold and the St. Lawrence Seaway and Welland Canal close for the season. Shipping usually stops at the end of December.

Soon in use will be this huge anchor; lying idle now at the mouth of the Don river. Freighter in background also spent the winter snugly in the protected waters of the river.

A tail ship: Free of its heavy load; the Wheat King rises majestically. For a working vessel; she looks strangely sleek although the plates that are normally below water have a waffled look. The ship dwarfs the vessel beside it.
