Original Toronto Star caption: A blazing inferno from raging fires touched off by three torpedo hits from a Jap submarine is the U.S. aircraft carrier Wasp shown just before she sank in the southwest Pacific. Several men and a plane (right circle) can be seen on the bow and on the stern (left circle) are other crewmen forced to the stern by the fires below. The Wasp was lost in action off the Solomon Islands.
