Original Toronto Star caption: $20;000 Houses in Bramalea are selling so well the waiting list goes back a year; despite the fact that more than 1;600 have been built or are under construction. Three carpenters built the wooden shells of the houses in the background in 2 1/2 days each. The land is owned by the provincial government and leased to homeowners for $80 a month. That; plus mass production; accounts for the low price.

A dream come true for former Scarborough insurance man Frederick Carlisle is his three-hulled Caravel II. He bought it 5 years ago for $25,000 and has cruised more than 20,000 miles with his daughters Nora, 11 (left) and Mary, 13, (right) and his wife. During the five-year getaway on the world's oceans the girls managed to pick up six years' credits on their correspondence courses. The Carlisles are thinking of crossing the Atlantic Ocean a second time next year.
