What is believed to be the world's largest heater-planer for re-levelling asphalt road surfaces started work this week on Roselawn Ave.; east of Dufferin. It was designed by Harvey Johnson; 38; of Johnson Road Builders; Cortland St.; Toronto. Driver; abofe; is Gordon Cane; chief mechanic. Heat waves can be seen at right from high-temperature heating element. The heated asphalt is then planed level without digging up and replacing whole existing surface. Savings are estimated at 50 per cent. Visits are scheduled by engineers from Sweden; Edmonton; Sudbury; Ottawa; Hamilton; and other Canadian and U.S. centres.
