Original Toronto Star caption: First educator to insist that children
be taught their native languages before learning classical Latin, St. John
Baptist de la Salle founded the Christian Brothers, who came to Canada 100
years ago, Nov. 18. This statue stands at De La Salle college, Aurora. Such
Torontonians as Judge W. T. J. Lee and Judge O'Connell and Bishops Carroll,
Kidd and Johnson received their early education from the Brothers.
