Original Toronto Star caption: The new subway's a big bore. Two 75-ton boring machine are ready at Spadina Rd. and Davenport Rd. to be lowered into the ground and pushed along as the tunnel progresses under Casa Loma for the Spadina subway. The machine shield the men working in the tunnel and eliminate the need for shoring up at the work face. Subway is to open in 1977.
