Original Toronto Star caption: Jazz ensemble led by trumpeter Buck Clayton (left) romp through their numbers last night during opening at the Colonial Tavern. Star of last night's performance was Sir Charles Thompson (centre), on piano, whose accompaniment served to tie together the contributions by Clayton, tenor saxophonist Buddy Tate (right) and the two other members of the quintet, bassis Frankyn Skeete and drummer Jackie WIlliams. Members of the group were playing together last night for the first time in several years, but by the second set were functioning with assurance.
