Original Toronto Star caption: A three-acre piece of land just north of Cheltenham, sometimes known as the ''Cooper Badlands'' has become an area where children play and school tours study. George Hill, Paul Gains and Neil Hendry run across the area which is ''a great example of erosion,'' according to Russell Cooper of Brampton who owns the area. The rolling red his (sp: hills) contain red clay which is sometimes taken for making pottery.

Uncle Frank Dawson tends to one of his injured wildfowl at his 3 3/4-acre conservation area on Elmcrest Rd. The 83-year-old bachelor has been patching up injured birds for as long as anyone can remember. With a small creek running through the back, his property has become a haven for hundreds of waterfowl. He has lived in the same house for over 50 years and has raised a varietyof birds. But Dawson can't recall when people started to bring birds to him, he said.
