Biographical sketch

Rose Chin was born Rosie Rosenthal in 1917 to Esther and Max Rosenthal of Toronto. Rose was of Jewish heritage; she married two Chinese immigrant men consecutively at a time when interracial marriage was taboo--first to CHIN Ing Jai (1898-1954), then to LEW Doo (1894-1961). They would leave her twice widowed.
